Reasons a Pond Pump Can Fail

When you have a pond built in your backyard you will need to ensure that the pump works properly at all times. Even a newly installed pump can experience issue that cause it to run inefficiently. When it does not run properly you can experience a failure of the pump or higher utility bills since the pump will need to work extra hard to get the job done. Here are some common reasons why a pond pump can fail.

A common reason why a pond pump fails is that it hasn’t been cleaned recently. The pump should be cleaned at least once per year, usually right before its first use in the spring. An improperly cleaned pump can fail because debris or dirt clogs different parts of it. This is only a temporary issue that can easily be solved by taking the pump apart and cleaning it.

Another cause of Tsurumi pond pump failure is a blown motor. The motor in the pump can fail because it is running too often or working too hard. This is another reason to make sure the pump is cleaned often. If you clean the pump often you should not have any issues with the pump’s motor. If the motor fails you can either replace it or replace the entire pump.

Electrical issues can also cause the pond pump to fail. This is more of an issue with the electrical connection provided to the pump from the house and not much to do with the pump. Still, issues with the electrical connection to the pump can cause it to stop working temporarily or even cause damage to the motor or the pump as a whole. Check the wiring that was installed to the pond from the home. Also check the outlet to ensure it has been installed properly.
